For our premium range, we prioritise Indonesian rattan selected for workable flexibility, smoother surface condition and a refined natural appearance.
The country of origin does not remove the need for inspection. Every incoming lot still needs grading, and every finished order still needs comparison against the approved standard.

Flexibility
Rattan must bend around the production form without excessive cracking, splitting or stress marks.

Comparing rattan options
Origin labels are not enough.
Buyers sometimes compare “Indonesian rattan” and “Vietnamese rattan” as though every lot is identical. In practice, grade, processing, moisture, storage and finishing matter more than the country name alone.
Important
A pale or white appearance should not automatically be treated as better or worse. Ask whether the material was bleached or otherwise processed, request a sample, and confirm odour, colour, surface and documentation for the intended market.

Liners and textile options
The liner is part of the product, not an afterthought.
Fibre composition, fabric weight, shrinkage, logo method and colour consistency should be confirmed before bulk production.
Natural cotton liner
A practical removable option for standard retail and bakery sets. Fabric weight, weave and colour can be specified before sampling.
Linen or linen-blend liner
A more premium hand feel for brand collections. Buyers should confirm fibre composition, shrinkage expectations and care instructions.
Custom printed liner
Logo printing, heat transfer and woven-label solutions can be developed around order quantity, artwork and wash requirements.
No-liner professional basket
For buyers who prefer flouring the natural rattan directly. Surface finish and cleaning guidance become especially important.

Ask which document applies to your exact product.
“Food safe” should not be treated as a generic marketing phrase. Requirements may depend on the material, liner, ink, coating, intended use and destination market.
We discuss available declarations, material information and project-specific testing with the buyer before order confirmation. Where independent testing is required, the product, test scope and responsible cost should be agreed in writing.
